These artworks are created using solar plates which are thin metal plates coated with a light sensitive material. When the plate is exposed to UV light (either natural sunlight or a UV lightbox) the portion of light sensitive coating which is exposed hardens. The unexposed material is washed off the plate with water, dried, exposed to light again to set and then is ready to ink intaglio or relief or both.
